A Special Message...

To whom it may concern. In recent months there has been a lot of blogging and debate about fixed gear freestyle or 700cmx. There are a lot of cyclists out there who appear to feel personally offended by the new wave of kids jumping on fixed gear bikes and doing tricks.

As a result the fixed gear "community" has become divided. On one side you have your "Drop-Bar Bike-Snobs" speeding through the city with messenger bags and u-locks handy. And on the other, your "Fixie-Trick Punks" sessioning any parking-lot or stair case they can find.

The continuous argument I hear from speed riders is that "These bikes aren't meant for tricks, they are made for speed". Guess what? These bikes weren't originally intended for street riding either. So what's the difference? Why is it legit to ride track bikes on the street but to do tricks on them is blaspheme?

Personally I just don't get it. Need I remind everyone that we are talking about fucking bicycles here! If you don't like tricking on a fixed gear, don't do it. If you prefer tricks on bmx bikes, great! Ride a bmx! How does another person doing their own thing with their own bike compromise what you are doing with yours? Next time you think about dissing someone for how they ride there bike, get off your high horse and eat a dick! Once again, we are talking about fucking bicycles, not who's got next with your mom.

So to all those who have a problem with 700cmx

Sincerely
-Lo Key

Isyar x Katrina

Zenta of Isyar / Qaumen Bikes decided to follow one of Souplesses featured rider Katrina Medina. She got a fresh frame, bars, stem and headset cap. The frame is their final version of their commuter frame called Ardour. Very tight geometry and very ridged strong construction. A freestyle track frame is in the works at the moment. News of the new freestyle frame will be found at Isyar / Qaumen and Souplesses.

This is an easy-paced ride. Be sure to watch out for and respect your fellow ridazz. Enjoy yourselves and don't worry about getting to the front of the pack.

Bring a front and back light for your bike and stay to the right side of the road and we'll avoid any drama with the fuzz.

STAY BEHIND THE MUSIC TRAILER!!!!! The music trailer sets the pace and helps keep everyone together in a mass. Work at keeping everyone together and it'll end up being a killer night.

WHERE THE HELL IS WALDO - Time To Register Is Almost Up!

Los Angeles, don't sleep! The "Where The Hell Is Waldo"- All City scav race is going down this Saturday and it is going to be dope. The race will span from Pink Taco in century city to the Ultra Violet Social Club, downtown Los Angeles. There is no set route, however there are 4 check-points where riders will have to pick up a spoke card to proceed to the next check point. There are already over 20 riders signed up for the race so this should be some stiff comp. All race participants are strongly urged to where a helmet!!! This race is for experienced street riders. The race will be taking place on busy Los Angeles roads with heavy traffic. We don't want to see anyone get injured so be sure to race safe and smart and we'll all have fun.

Where The Hell Is Waldo after-party will be at the Ultra Violet Social Club @ 6pm with Live art, BEER sponsored by NAKON BEER (clearly must be 21+ to drink), and TATTOOING if your feeling ballzy!!!! There will also be live Dubstep, Drum n' Bass, and Hip Hop by Dj Dstrukt, Dj Clay Steele, Tenacity, KEMST, and your host Deco Comp!

Tony Kornheiser, Still A Raging Douche!

Tony Kornheiser really doesn't sound sorry for his ridiculous "Run down the cyclist" rant that he went on. Listen to Tony and Lance Armstrong speak about it on Tony's radio show here. Personally, I feel like Lance really went soft on him. By the end of the interview Tony and even Lance are just using this as an opportunity to promote themselves. FAIL!

Phil Wood Passed Away

84-year old Phil Wood (@PhilWoodCo) passed away today on his farm in Baxter, Iowa. Since 1971, the Phil Wood Company specialized in hub and other bicycle component manufacturing. In 1991, he sold the company to Peter Enright and other investors. Most of us first came to know Phil Wood's products through the popularity of their track hubs. Reliable, handmade in the US, hubs that set the standard for modern wheel builds. Let's all observe a moment of silence today for Phil Wood. His contributions to the bicycle industry are undeniable.
